Mom died in 1982, when I was just 27 years old, but I have wonderful memories of the times she spent with me, teaching me skills that would one day serve me well, as wife and mother.
During my pre-teen and teen years she taught me to sew by hand and machine. She was very creative and greatly inspired me. By the age of twelve I was sewing many of my own clothes and by thirteen I had knit myself a sweater, that I could actually use! I learned to embroider and years later, shortly before her death, I taught myself to crochet, and the art of stained glass.
Through the years, I have stored up many, many memories and treasures that have helped me in my home and domestic life. My mother was truely a dedicated wife and mother, always giving unselfishly to her family and loved ones. She taught me so much, always and ever an encouragement to me; the most patient and kind women. She never stopped giving; she was doing what she loved. What a wonderful example - the legacy I´ve been given to pass down to my own children.
Growing up in a feminist generation, I am so very thankful that my mother never lost site of the importance of home and family.
